A touch of Snow!

Well, you know how I'd been hoping for a lil' snow instead of the ice. Yesterday morning we woke up and the pond was overflowing and the water was standing everywhere - I ran out and checked the gage - and we had gotten 4.5 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Now, I'm not for sure if this is correct - but hubby says, for every one inch of rain - that equals nearly 10 inches of snow. So needless to say, if it had fallen in the frozen form - we'd be snowed in, well forever. Like I said, not for sure if he's got that exactly right - but it's fun to think of it - 45 inches of snow that would have been. But just as we were watching it rain - it turned to snow jus' like that - a really hard blowing snow - and then it was gone - once again, jus' like that. But I was glad we got to experience a lil' bit of it.

We still have a lil' bit of the white stuff hanging around. It'll be gone by the weekend - suppose to be nearly 50 degrees.

But just as we are enjoying a lil' snow - I must remember all the people who were heavily affected by this storm - no electricity, no water. It really is a sad situation - so we will continue to remember them and hope that things are back in order for them real soon.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend. I've got to go work in my store - oh my, I've been off for a few weeks and I'm suppose to open back up next week, and needless to say - it sorely needs attention. And Yes, this weekend we will be seeding lots of spring flowers in our greenhouse - so I think my lazy days "of winter" are over. I'll keep you posted on all of the happenings at Cobblestone Farms.

Many Blessings, Cathy

;( No Snow - but Ice instead!!

Well, from a distance it kinda looks like snow - but my friends, it is ice. Honestly, it is really pretty to look at but unfortunately, it is jus' not good for anything. I hate for things to be dangerous and that is what this kind of weather is for people. We have been fortunate here - it has rained most of the day - and that is a blessing - if it had fallen in a frozen state - a lot of those trees would be breaking now.

As you can see, the cattle don't seem to mind.

Every little piece of grass, every limb, the fence, the power lines - they look like glass.

Hope the lil' birds are toasty.

Anybody else out there "iced in" or "snowed in"? I know this weather situation is affecting many and is going to continue to do so over the next couple of days.

Everybody be safe - and if you got the snow instead of the ice - please jus' throw a snowball for me, o.k.

Safe Travels Everybody,
Cathy

Happpy Monday!

Guess what friends???? It's gonna snow here tonight - YYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHH! I do hope we get enough to jus' have a snowball fight anyway! I've got my gloves ready and I'm looking forward to some fun in the snow.

But as I'm looking out my dining room window this morning thinking of the coming snowfall - I have to concentrate on three seasons from now - yes, skip spring, summer and come to fall - now, let me tell ya that's hard to do.

You ask, why? Well, it's time to get our mums ordered - actually I'm a couple of weeks late on that already - it's so hard to choose - there are so many colors and varieties - I want them all. But, I've got it narrowed down and I'm about ready to make the call - and as for our greenhouse - well, we start that next week in full swing. I can hardly believe it - the pansies are up and the geraniums are on their way.

But as for today, I'm jus' gonna enjoy a lil' taste of winter!
Happy Monday Friends,

Another lil' project...

...for my REALLY bright kitchen. Well today, I went to help one of my sweet mamaw's peel wallpaper off her bathroom (not to fun I must say) and tomorrow I have to paint it - but I'm happy to help - she's always so good to me. And then when I left there - I stopped by to see my other sweet grandmother and I spotted these bright yellow plates she had - that she wasn't doing anything with. I told her how much I liked them and she insisted I take them - "oh no mamaw - you keep them - they are yours, I'd say" and like she always does - if she knows you'll enjoy something - she is gonna make sure you have it. So, needless to say - they came home with me and here's what happened to them.

A couple of yellow-gold plates, some black and white papers, some paint, some modge podge, a button or two and a tad of ric-rac.

I put the paper in the center and couldn't quite decide what to put on it. I thought and thought - about buttons (didn't have enough), another layer of paper - anyway, in the end I simply decided to paint a flower...

...and an "M" for our last name.

I added a yellow button for the center of the flower, put some red ric-rac around the "M" and tied them both up with heavy ribbon and black and white checked covered buttons.

So now I must go do something productive - like laundry.

But most importantly - today I got to visit all four of my grandparents - how lucky am I - so incredibly blessed. And in remembering my blessings - my thoughts go out to my good friend, Andi, who lost her precious Grannie this week.

"The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light." Isiah 60:19-20

Let us always be mindful of our blessings.
Have a wonderful day.

My - "definitely bright" and Happy Country Kitchen

You all better put your sunglasses on - 'cause it is a lil' bright in here - but you know what, I can't keep from smilin'. I told ya I'd let you take a peek when I got finished with my country kitchen - well, I'm gonna share a few pics with you now. However, I'm still not finished. I'm gonna make some letters like I do to match - I already have the paper but not all the letters I need. I'm gonna repaint my ceiling white - I know you are probably saying "why did she paint it green to start with?" A lot of times I do paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the wall color but I didn't this time and honestly, it is the same shade and jus' a bit to intense for me. I need to distress my cabinets and paint my trim again - BUT other than those things - I'm good to go for a while. WHHHEEEEWWWWW!!! Hope you have fun looking - here we go!

My favorite color - RED - This is my lil' arrangement on top of the fridge.

My lil' country light hanging in front of one of the windows.

White ironstone pitchers - one of my favorite things. Now, don't you all laugh at my pie - I didn't beat my meringue long enough - but it still tasted yummmmmmmmy!

My woven rug I found at our wonderful local Antique Mall - did I mention it was only $10.00 and could the colors have been more perfect????? And Yes, Snowball has taken a likin' to it also.

Some of my cute lil' towels I found at Wally World.

This is my spoon rest - the piece that started the whole color scheme - and more importantly, I love what it says.

My storage baskets that I already had in another room.

This is my new "faux" tin back splash I put up today. I'd love to have this on the ceiling some day!!

As you can see, it is a teeny tiny lil' kitchen.

A very few cabinets...

Sorry this pic is a lil' dark but you can see what I mean when I say small.

That's all folks.

Well, I'm back to start on a few more projects - next - the laundry room. That is gonna be a real undertaking. What do you think for a color? - bright yellow, aqua, maybe everything white.... I just don't know yet. I'll just have to surprise you!!!

Have a great Tuesday my friends! I woke up to some snow this morning and I was tickled to death - maybe we will get some more tomorrow - hope so!!!

Happy Creating!

I was ready for SOME COLOR!!!

O.K. friends, did you all think I had forgot about you again? Well, I haven't - I jus' got into a project and I'm still not done but we are getting there. I took a notion the other day and decided I need some COLOR in my kitchen. I wanted a happy space and not that I didn't like it before but it was jus' a bit to "calm" for me. Well, I have to admit - I was a tad shocked when the first roll went on the wall but it is growing on me and besides - it makes me happy!!

So here are jus' a couple of pics - I'll share them all when I get them done.

This is above my stove - what do you think about my lime green?????

And this one is of the top of my frig - I suppose I missed my red and lime green from my Christmas tree so much that I just thought I had to have it everyday!!!

I'll share more with ya next time - I'm off to make a coconut pie that my friend, Tina, over at Cherry Hill Cottage, posted on. I hope mine turns out looking half as pretty as hers does.

Everybody have a blessed day! Just sending you a lil' sunshine!

I'm BAAAACK!!

Hey Everybody! - It is sooooo good to be back! We finally got our new computer and we are up and running - my e-mail is still not working but at least I get to visit with you guys. Hope everyone is having a great start to the year. Thank you all for not bailing out on me since it has been nearly three weeks since I last chatted with ya. I have truly missed you all!

So I know everybody is probably into cleaning projects and trying to organize. I've made an attempt at my kitchen - organized and labeled all my cabinets but you know - I'd much rather do something else - somethin' fun - like paint. So here is a couple of the projects that took up much of two days last week but - I was so happy to do it 'cause they are for a dear friend and customer who is about to have a very special delivery - twin girls. Sweet lil' Morgan and Marlee.

Their names in covered letters that I believe she is going to hang over each window in their absolutely darlin' nursery. It is green, pink and chocolate brown!

And this was my lil' gift to her. I know she will be getting and has already gotten LOADS of cute stuff and especially frames. So I mixed mine up a bit - this is a handmade frame but instead of a picture - I simply put a "M" in it for both the girls!

Oops, and I almost forgot to tell you all - I got a Cricut with my Christmas money - now, I'm not a scrapbooker. I wish I could say that I was - but there is simply no time for that project in my life. But I think I'm gonna be hooked on it anyway - 'cause there is so much you can do with that wonderful invention - here we go - something else to consume my time - but hey - sure is fun!

So I'm sending out an early congratulations to sweet Lori and her family on the upcoming birth of her twin girls. Many blessings and prayers going out to you all.

It's great to be back - Have a beautiful Sunday!

Just checkin' in!

Hi Everybody! Oh how I miss talking to you all. I'm currently at my mother-n-laws and I thought I'd give you all an update. Our computer crashed Christmas Eve - what a present hey? After attempts to repair it - we've decided to jus' purchase a new one. However, it is going to take several more days before it arrives and we transfer everything over. I hope you all don't give me up. I promise I'll be back as soon as I can. I'M HAVING WITHDRAWAL!!!!!!

I hope you all are having a great start to the new year. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have been up to and sharing with you all in return. My shop is always closed the month of January so I'm trying to catch up on a lil' rest and LOTS of projects.

I'd try and change pictures for you all but unfortunately - I don't have any - there are all on the other computer. So I sure will be glad when things get back to normal!

Many blessings to you all - and please don't forget about me!!
